Green mines: Intelligent sorting technology drives the green transformation of mines

Against the backdrop of the increasingly prominent contradiction between mineral resource development and ecological environment protection, promoting the green transformation of mines has become a key measure to enhance the comprehensive utilization rate of mineral resources and achieve high-quality and sustainable development of the mining industry.

1.Policy Guidance - Anchoring the Strategic Direction of Green Transformation in Mines

As a major global producer and consumer of the mining industry, China has guided the healthy and orderly development of the mining industry through policy deployment. For instance, the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, the Ministry of Natural Resources, and nine other departments jointly issued the "Guiding Opinions on Further Promoting the Green Development of Industry in the Yellow River Basin", clearly stating that "we should promote the construction of green mines." Requirements such as "accelerating the green exploration and exploitation of mineral resources". Multiple departments have successively issued policies such as the "Guidelines for the Construction of Intelligent Mines in the Nonferrous Metals Industry" and the "Guidelines for the Intelligent Construction of Coal Mines", providing top-level design for the intelligent construction and green transformation of mines, and clarifying the implementation path of "replacing humans with mechanization, reducing humans with automation, and eliminating humans with intelligence".

As the core link of resource development, the traditional sorting method seriously restricts the development of the industry due to problems such as high pollution and large energy consumption. Case 1. Precise Purification of Coal-based Kaolin

Aiming at the pain points of complex associated minerals of coal-based kaolin and low efficiency of traditional sorting, the MAI-XD series artificial intelligence sorting machine of Mingde Optoelectronics can identify 38 characteristic parameters such as mineral surface texture and glossiness in real time through multispectral imaging and deep learning algorithms. In the application of a certain kaolin mine in Inner Mongolia, the equipment achieved a kaolin concentrate recovery rate of over 98%, reducing the kaolin content in the tailings from 12% in the traditional process to less than 3%, and increasing the economic benefit by more than 20 million yuan annually. It has also solved problems such as the accumulation of coal gangue tailings and the low comprehensive utilization of resources. The equipment intelligently identifies kaolin in coal gangue, enhancing utilization and maximizing value, and simultaneously promoting the green transformation of this project.

Case 2: Reduce sewage discharge pressure and extend the service life of tailings ponds

In the phosphorus mine base of Hubei Province, the Mingde MAI-D series equipment adopts high-precision intelligent recognition technology and combines multi-modal modeling algorithms to successfully solve the separation problems of phosphorite and dolomite. After a certain phosphate rock enterprise applied it, the grade of the selected ore increased from 18% to 26%, the waste disposal rate exceeded 60%, and the annual tailings discharge was reduced by 1.2 million tons. At the same time, at the phosphate rock sorting site, there was no need for subsequent medium recovery and treatment. Through the pre-selection and waste disposal technology, low-grade ores no longer entered the wet process, effectively reducing the generation of tailings. Achieve a win-win situation of economic benefits and environmental benefits.

 

Case 3. New Breakthroughs in the Reuse of Waste Resources

The Mingde MTX12 X-ray intelligent sorting system has demonstrated outstanding performance in its application in Shanxi. Through dual-energy X-ray fluorography technology and material identification algorithms, the system can penetrate 300mm thick coal seams and accurately identify gangue at the 1cm³ level. The actual operation data shows that the gangue discharge rate reaches 98.2%, and the coal-carrying rate is controlled within 1.5%. According to the current situation of coal gangue, the Mingde separator can achieve precise separation of coal, gangue and Gaoling rock.

4.A full-process intelligent alternative solution

In response to the pain points of low efficiency and high risk in traditional manual sorting workshops, Mingde Optoelectronics' intelligent sorting machine has achieved a revolutionary breakthrough: the processing particle size range has been expanded to 2-150mm, and the hourly processing capacity can be increased to 120 tons. Compared with manual sorting, the efficiency is more than 10 times higher, and it can directly replace dozens of manual sorting positions, saving more than 3 million yuan in labor costs annually.

5.Recycling and reuse of waste resources

In response to the historical accumulation problem, the Mingde technical team has launched a "city Mine" reconstruction plan at a tungsten mine in Jiangxi Province. Through the MAI-TD series sorting equipment, 20 million tons of historical tailings were re-sorted. Xanthite, quartz and black stone materials in the tungsten tailings were successfully selected, enabling them to meet the usage standards of high-standard construction aggregates. This released the storage capacity of the tailings reservoir and the full reuse of tailings resources, generating an additional income of nearly 10 million yuan.
